Education:
"Education
is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world." -
Nelson Mandela (1918 - )
Whether you agree with this
statement or have strong differing views, it is a very important subject and we
offer you the opportunity to comment and state
your case through our interactive Forum.
From where we sit, the current
system appears to hang together by the goodwill of the teachers- who under
relentless pressure to produce miracles for the parents and the monitoring elite
thinkers- still manage to be committed to the job of educating the pupils.
However, how can we have about
55,000 pupils every day deciding that they don't want to play the game?
Perhaps the teachers need to 'tweak-up' the look forward to in their lessons
prep. Soon the parents will be sent to prison for failing to ensure that the
little darlings go to school.
Whilst thinking of your for or
against views - we leave you a few other memorable quotes:-
"Tell me and I forget. Teach
me and I remember. Involve me and I learn." Benjamin Franklin (1706 -
1790)
"Education is a better
safeguard of liberty than a standing army." Edward Everett (1794 - 1865)
"Education, therefore, is a
process of living and not a preparation for future living." John Dewey
(1859 - 1952)
"The object of education is
to prepare the young to educate themselves throughout their lives." Robert
Maynard Hutchins (1899 - 1977)
